Electric Tequila owner could face charges from ALE following shooting outside club, police say

Greensboro police have responded to 46 calls to Electric Tequila so far this year.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The owner of a Greensboro nightclub could face criminal charges from the Alcohol Law Enforcement agency (ALE) following a shooting outside the establishment.

Police responded to dozens of shots fired outside of Electric Tequila early Saturday morning. Surveillance video obtained by WFMY News 2 showed people running and ducking for cover as gunshots went off. Two people were shot but are OK.

On Tuesday, police shared more information on the process when it comes to investigating the business. GPD said it is coordinating with the ALE on its ongoing investigation regarding criminal charges against the owner of Electric Tequila. GPD explained that the ALE is the lead agency and arresting agency for this part of the process.

As far as the shooting investigation, GPD said as of Tuesday, no arrests have been made.

GPD said so far this year, they've responded to 46 calls to Electric Tequila.

The City of Greensboro has filed a civil nuisance abatement lawsuit which could require the club to close. Nuisance abatement proceedings are handled by City Legal.

GPD said when a violent incident happens at a business that sells alcohol, a safety review board can be initiated and attempts are made to get in touch with the owner. The owner then meets the Safety Review Board, which then does inspections at the business, takes action against violations, and discusses the incident and security measures being taken.
