Expansive Body Language Is An Attraction Magnet

Within seconds someone knows if they’re attracted to you. In the world on online dating and speed dating that’s about as much time as you have before a potential romantic interest moves on to the next profile or next person. So, what can you do to increase your chances of catching their eye?

Use expansive body language. This means uncross your arms and legs. Stretch your torso. Remember when your mom told you to hold your shoulders back and keep your back straight? Well, she was on to something more than you looking better. It's an attraction magnet as you look more inviting, open and dominant. Researchers at University of California, Berkley, examined whether expansive body language vs contractive body language yielded more “yeses” for both online dating profiles and speeding dating. They examined other nonverbal cues of interest such as smiles, laughs, head nods. In 2 different experiments, the researchers found that people were more physically attracted to people who showed expansive body language.

Keep in mind that your body language contracts when you use your iPhone as you appear physically shut down (shoulders rolled in, arms held closer together and head down) and smaller. So put your iPhone away. Also, when you're cold, your body will contract as well to keep in the heat. Make sure you dress warmly.
