GREENSBORO, NC -- Go ahead, drink that Pumpkin Spice if you'd like. Cool nights, and pleasant days are here for a little while, just don't expect them to last. Our taste of fall is temporary, with a return to heat and humidity next week.
A major shift in our weather arrived on Thursday. Dramatically cooler air from Canada is invading the East Coast, allowing us to catch our breath with some refreshing weather. High pressure will keep us high and dry through Saturday, but things will heat up soon after.
That same area of high pressure will be slipping off the coast to our east on Sunday. As it does, winds will switch direction, coming in out of the south again. This will be a warming trend, bringing heat and humidity back into the Carolinas for next week.
In fact, we really could be in for a full fledged heat wave. Highs in the 90s are likely many days next week with a good amount of humidity.
