Father of Missing Kernersville Teenager: "There's No Emotion Left"

Boone Police are asking for your help in locating a missing teenager.

BOONE, N.C. -- Boone Police are asking for your help in locating a missing teenager.

Police said that they have been following numerous leads and tips, but so far have not been able to find Martin.

James Martin Roberts, 19, was last seen near the intersection of Hardin Street and Rivers Street around the Appalachian State Convocation Center around 12:30 pm, Thursday, April 21.

He was wearing a black, short sleeve App State windbreaker, khaki shorts, gray New Balance shoes and a white golf visor. He's described as standing 5-foot-10 and weighing about 145 pounds.

Martin is from Kernersville, NC, and currently lives in Boone while going to school at Caldwell Community College.

Martin Roberts parents, John and Abby, told WFMY News 2's Ben Powell that Martin left a note for them before he took off saying only "I'm Leaving."

His parents are very concerned and said that his disappearance is out of character for him.

They say it's just not like him to do something like that.

So with every passing moment, their fear and heart ache starts to sink in deeper.

"It makes me miss him," said a teary eyed Abby Roberts, as she looks back at pictures of her son, Martin.

"There so many pictures of good times, whether it was with us or with his friends," said John. "You just want those good times to continue."

John Roberts says it's hard for them to focus on anything else besides finding their only son.

"It's a situation where our hearts are broken right now. There is no emotion left or there is just an overflow of emotion," said Roberts. "You go from one moment where you just don't think you can feel anymore to the next moment being overcome with the pain or the suffering and the heart ache."

Roberts said Martin was a popular child growing up in Kernersville.

He was the elected captain of his high school soccer team and then went on to join a fraternity during his time at Appalachian State University before attending Caldwell CC.

"This situation is very unusual, very strange, very unexpected," said Roberts. "Martin has never had any kind of situation where a just left and has been alone like this. We didn't see this coming and had no clue that anything like this could possibly happen."

The one thing helping them through this is the support from friends, family, and people across the world on social media.

"It just hurts to know that, or to think that he doesn't know how much he is loved," said Abby. "I wish you could see the outpouring because it's amazing!"

They hope somebody, anybody, will come forward with the one piece of information that could bring Martin home.

"We got plenty of time for crying later on," said Roberts. "We definitely have done some the past few days but what's more important is to try to have a clear head and help the people who are out looking for him."

Martin's family says he enjoys hiking, camping and spending time on the trails in around the Blue Ridge Parkway.

If you have any information on Roberts' whereabouts, you're asked to call Boone Police.

Authorities are investigated this as a missing persons case.
