A 44-year-old former high school teacher was charged with having an improper relationship with a student on Monday.
Kenan David James was charged with Indecent Liberties with a Student, First Degree Sexual Exploitation of Minor and Soliciting Child by Computer according to the Yadkin County Sheriff's Office. The offenses happened when James taught at Forbush High School in East Bend.
The sheriff's office learned of accusations against James while he was still a teacher, prompting an investigation.
James received a $70,000 secured bond. He was released Tuesday.
