WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. โ Kia and Hyundai owners have a chance to get a free steering wheel lock from the Winston-Salem Police Department.
WSPD is holding a giveaway drive-thru event on Thursday, April 25 at the Winston Mutual Building, located at 1225 East 5th Street. Police have 240 locks to give out, and it is first-come, first-served.
- Time: 7-9 a.m. (or until they run out of locks)
- Bring: Your Hyundai/Kia vehicle and current registration
- Note: This is only for Kia and Hyundai owners due to high theft rates
Police say so far this year, Kia and Hyundai thefts have accounted for 34% of vehicle thefts in Winston-Salem. A glitch in the system makes it easier for some models to be stolen.
