GREENSBORO, N.C. -- You have national basketball champions living right here in your neighborhood and you probably didn't even know it.
WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain introduced you to the National Travel Ball Association champs, the Greensboro Galaxy 14U Girls Basketball Team.
Under the leadership of Greensboro Galaxy's Director of Women's Basketball Walter Johnson, Coach Eric Burns, and Coach Dexter Vines, these young ladies were assembled together from Triad Area schools ranging from Southeast Middle, Northeast Middle, Southern Middle, Aycock Middle, Triad Math and Science, Western Alamance Middle, Woodlawn Middle and Canterbury School.
In just the first travel ball season together, these young ladies have claimed the 2015 14U USSSA State Championship Title and now the 2015 NTBA National Title. Not only are they talented on the court, they are also honor roll students in the classroom with the team GPA of a 3.6.
