RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper is urging citizens to take this winter storm seriously.
"Don't let the temperature fool you," he stated in a Thursday morning news conference. "North Carolina is about to feel this year's first blast of winter weather."
Dozens of school districts across the state are closed, and several released students early today.
"Snowy roads can be deadly if you aren't careful," Cooper continued. "Pay close attention to your local forecast."
NCDOT crews began brining roads across the state on Wednesday afternoon. NC State Highway Patrol troopers are ready to help any drivers who need it when the snow starts.
The Triad is expected to get anywhere from 1 to 4 inches, with our eastern counties getting more accumulation.
