Greensboro's Southside Neighborhood Grows Beyond Original Plan

City staff members hope the continued growth will bring more jobs to Greensboro.

Greensboro, NC -- The transformation of the south side of downtown Greensboro has surpassed the city's blueprint for the project.To meet demand, development has moved outside the original boundaries of the plan.People are paying $200,000 to $300,000 to live in Southside.City staffers say the trend enhances the downtown area and attract employers.Dan Curry with the Department of Housing and Community Development said, "That's the strength and vitality of any community. So as we begin to attach these projects together and surround the downtown area, I think it's going to have a huge positive impact on economic development for the whole region."City housing development managers hope Southside's popularity will lead to larger shopping or housing developments.
