GREENSBORO, N.C. —

Greensboro

The two major dangers the winter storm brought to Guilford County were ice and power outages.

Ice weighed heavy on trees, forcing dozens of them to come crashing down. Guilford County Fire & EMS could not give us a precise number as to how many downed trees crews responded to, saying it was too many to keep up with.

At its peak, nearly 26,000 people were without power Sunday morning in Guilford County according to Duke Energy. Those numbers have since gone down.

Power outages meant traffic lights in certain areas weren't working. Greensboro Police were out in full force, setting up stop signs and cones in affected areas. Reminder: if traffic lights are out, treat it as a four-way stop.

Here is one of the many downed trees in Greensboro, off of Holden Road and Alderman Drive. The tree uprooted off of a front lawn, fell in the middle of the street, and knocked down a power line with it.

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County

More than 40,000 Duke Energy customers are without power in Forsyth County. Freezing rain that started overnight is to blame. The build up on trees and power lines was too much in many cases. The weight of the ice is causing several trees and power lines to snap in half.

In some other dangerous situations, trees and power lines were reported to be falling in the roadways, creating road closures and detours.

The Forsyth County 911 Center continues to receive several reports of downed trees on homes.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

Even though ice is not a problem on roadways, state troopers are encouraging drivers to be on lookout for downed trees, power lines, and debris.

As for the power outage, Duke Energy says, crews are assessing the damage.

But, there's still no word on when the power will be restored.
