This Walmart Refund isn't for real!

Don't click the 'Track Refund Status' instead, go to your accounts to check if it is real.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Getting a refund back from a place you shop is never a bad thing. This is why when a refund email hits your inbox from Walmart.com,  the red flags don't immediately go up. But the person who got this noticed the purchase date was February 16, 2024, and the date of the email was February 16 at 2:30 AM.

"I thought I did not make that charge that day and I couldn't have gotten a refund in that day," said Jane, a local consumer.

And, it doesn't hurt that Jane is my mom and she heard my voice in her head and knew it was a scam.

"That was the best information you've said, never go on the information you're being given, go on the information you know is true," said Jane.

And the true information is always not what is in email or text, but what is on your account.  My mom knew not to click on this "Track Refund Status" button and instead go directly to her accounts, in this case, her credit card and her Walmart account.

Besides the timing and the fact you probably weren't expecting a refund, always look at the address where the email is sent from. It is not Walmart.com, .it's a random address that doesn't make any sense. Remember, before you click on a link, even from an address you do recognize, go to your main account first.
