Man Charged With DWI After Driving Into Woman In Winston-Salem

The woman was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where her injuries are described as life-threatening.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (WFMY) - A woman is in the hospital after a man hit her with his car after drinking alcohol Saturday night according to Winston-Salem police.

Dwight Goodson was driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix north near his home on Shalimar Drive when he collided with Patsy Sims of Maryland Ave. in Winston-Salem. Sims was walking when she was hit according to a release.

Police learned Goodson had consumed alcohol before the accident while responding to the disturbance just before 10 p.m.

Sims, 52, was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where her injuries are described as life-threatening.

Goodson, 28, was arrested and charged with Driving While Impaired. His bond is set at $10,000 and his court date is Sept. 4. He was not injured in the wreck.
