FREE Health care enrollment help: Medicaid & ACA Marketplace. Call the phone bank from 4pm to 6:30 pm

The ACA enrollment deadline is December 15th. Medicaid was just expanded in NC.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Health care is complicated and there's no shame in asking an expert to help you figure it out--- that's how we all learn and know we're making the best decision for ourselves and our families.

The North Carolina Navigator Consortium is a statewide network of health insurance experts who can give you free help in figuring out what health care plan is right for you.

Today, you can talk to one of the navigators one on one. From 4 pm until 6:30 you can call 1-855-733-3711 and get your health care figured out.

MEDICAID

North Carolina just expanded Medicaid. You can ask these experts if you qualify, and what health coverage looks like for you on Medicaid.  Health Insurance Navigators are already answering questions that include: “Am I eligible for NC Medicaid?” “Can I be eligible for both HealthCare.gov and Medicaid?” “What does Medicaid cover?” and “How do I apply?”

    • North Carolina expanded who can get Medicaid starting December 1, 2023.
    • Adults ages 19 through 64 earning up to 138% of the federal poverty line may be eligible. If you live in NC and your income is up to $41,400 (family of 4) or $20,210 (single), you can apply now even if you have been told no in the past.
      • Medicaid coverage is comprehensive, including services like primary care, hospital stays, maternity care, vision and hearing, dental/oral health care, and more.
      • Medicaid pays for doctor visits, yearly check-ups, emergency care, mental health, and more – at little or no cost to you.
      • Copays are reasonable, typically $4.
      • If you are eligible you can enroll in Medicaid at any time. However, if you don't qualify for Medicaid and you need to enroll in a health plan on the Health Insurance Marketplace (HealthCare.gov), Open Enrollment ends Jan. 16, 2024. So make an appointment now!

In addition to answering general questions about NC Medicaid eligibility, Health Insurance Navigators can help consumers apply for Medicaid and troubleshoot eligibility denials. While consumers can apply in person, by phone, or by mail, applications submitted online through ePASS may be processed faster. The processing time for applications can be up to 45 days.

ACA MARKETPLACE

If you are re-enrolling or enrolling for the first time in the ACA Marketplace, these experts can look through the plans for you to find the best coverage.

    • HealthCare.gov Open Enrollment is happening now and ends Jan. 16, 2024. If you enroll in a health plan before Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, your coverage will start Jan. 1, 2024!
    • The subsidies and tax credits that were put into place as a result of the Inflation Reduction Act are still in place! This means 80% of enrollees can find a plan for $10 per month or less. Nine out of 10 folks will qualify for financial assistance to help pay their premium
