WILKES COUNTY, N.C. — A 70-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash on NC-16 in Wilkes County Monday.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said they were called to a crash near Misty Jump Lane around 12:50 p.m. Troopers said a 2014 Triumph motorcycle was driving on NC-16 when the driver went off the right side of the road and hit the guardrail.
Investigators said the driver of the motorcycle, 70-year-old Terry Warfield Spainhour of Clemmons, was thrown from the bike and died at this scene.
Detectives said after an initial investigation, they don't believe speed or impairment was a contributing factor in the crash.
During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed in the area for approximately two hours.
