The suit accuses the writers of labeling Lieutenant Brian James and officer Julius Fulmore as police officers who hang out with prostitutes and drug dealers.

City and police investigations cleared both officers of accusations they faced during David Wray's tenure.

The officers' attorney, Amiel Rossabi said, "It doesn't matter how good a guy or how great an officer Lt. James and officer Fulmore were, they're just sacrificed for the cause. And that's wrong."

The officers are seeking at least $50,000in punitive damages and an unstated amount of compensatory damages.

Reached by phone, Rhino attorney Seth Cohen said quote, "There was no conspiracy to defame anyone. It's their burden to prove that and they can't prove it, because it's not true."
