Stokes County Schools Sheltering in Place After Social Media Threat

The Stokes County Sheriff's Office says a threat was made against West Stokes High School around 8:15 a.m.

STOKES COUNTY, N.C. — Stokes County Schools are sheltering in place Monday morning after a threat was made on social media.

The Stokes County Sheriff's Office says a threat was made against West Stokes High School around 8:15 a.m. The decision to shelter in place is a precautionary measure while detectives are investigating. 

A notification sent to parents says there may be an increase in law enforcement presence at schools. 

Last Friday, the Stokes County Schools District was ordered to shelter in place for the same reason. An unspecified threat was posted on social media was later deemed invalid.
