Town swears in first Black woman to council

This Rockingham County woman made history!

STONEVILLE, N.C. — A woman in Rockingham County made history. 

Stoneville Town Council swore in Daisy Smith. 

She is the first Black woman to ever serve on the town council. She is a lifelong Stoneville resident. 

The town says she currently works as a church administrator and spent most of her professional life in Human Resources. 

Congratulations, Daisy Smith!
