UNC-Chapel Hill student dies in car crash, troopers say

The student was in his third year of residency.

SANFORD, N.C. — A UNC-Chapel Hill student has died after a car crash in Lee County, according to North Carolina State Troopers.

Davis Anugo, a 32-year-old UNC student, was driving south on NC-87. 

Lucas Crump, 25, was driving north on NC-87.

According to troopers, Crump traveled left of center and hit Anugo head-on. After the initial crash, Crump sideswiped another car.

Anugo died on the scene, according to troopers.

Crump and the passenger in his car both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital.

Anugo was in his third year of residency at UNC-Chapel Hill.
