It's a big day at the White House. First Lady Melania Trump is celebrating her 48th birthday. She's had a busy week! She entertained France's President and his wife at the Trump administration's first State Dinner. And, of course, her fashions got a lot of attention.
Let's talk about her white hat and the power of a fashion statement. When you make a fashion statement, it's typically bold. That draws attention. It makes you think about more than fashion (what looks good and feels good wearing it), but also meaning. Style defines you and gives a glimpse of your personality. The image you want to present to the world. For Ms. Trump, she picked white, which is known to represent the suffrage movement. And the boldness of her hat, it could be a message that she's her own woman, not to be in the shadow of her husband.
Both Trump and Macron have stated that their friends. And their body language reflects it. When Trump was removing imaginary dandruff off of Macron's shoulder, two things happened. One, Trump felt comfortable enough to touch Macron. And Macron's body language was relaxed suggesting that he was okay with it. When words and body language are congruent then you can believe them.
