'The sky's the limit for him' | Grant Lamoureux representing Under-19 USA Volleyball

The junior outside hitter landed a spot on the U-19 national volleyball team.

CLEMMONS, N.C. — It's any athlete's dream to represent their country at the national level. West Forsyth High School junior Grant Lamoureux is trying to make that dream a reality. The outside hitter is one of 20 players that was selected for a spot on the United States under 19 national volleyball team

"It's really special to me. I get to represent my high school, my club and my country. It's really awesome," said Lamoureux.

"He's a wonderful player and a wonderful teammate," said West Forsyth head coach Patrick Shugart. "Not only does he play very well, but he elevates the play of people around him which is special to him. He loves the game and wants to spread that love."

Being 6'10, it's easy to spot Lamoureux on the court, but his skills are what really sets him apart.

"My height is definitely helpful. I have decent court vision and serving," said Lamoureux.

"He's got a lot of the mental skills that you need, he's so great at anticipating and predicting what's going to happen next. The sky's the limit for him," said Shugart.

Lamoureux is one of two players representing North Carolina on the team. Raleigh's Thomas Demps IV, a 6'4 outside hitter from Broughton High School was also selected.

The team will play in the upcoming NORCECA Continental Championship next month in Puerto Rico.
