GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG sophomore guard Tevon Saddler (Aberdeen, Md./St. Frances Academy) has been named Third Team All-Southern Conference, the SoCon Sports Media Association announced Tuesday morning. This is the first All-SoCon honor of Saddler's career after earning SoCon Freshman of the Year accolades last season.
Saddler leads the Spartans and ranks 10th in the league in scoring at 13.6 points per game. He has scored in double figures 21 times, including six games of 20-plus points. He ranks third in the league with 120 assists and over the last eight games of the season, led the league with 5.6 assists per game.
Saddler has started and played in 29 games this season, missing two games due to an injury. He scored over 20 points against league foes four times and dished out a career-high eight assists against Samford last week. Through his first two seasons with the Spartans, he has already scored 779 points in his first 60 career games to go along with 209 assists.
All four major awards were clean sweeps of both the media and coaches' voting this year. Karl Cochran of Wofford was named the SoCon Player of the Year, Mike Young of Wofford was the Coach of the Year, Justin Tuoyo of Chattanooga was the Defensive Player of the Year and Devin Sibley of Furman was the Freshman of the Year.
