WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- For the first time in program history, the Wake Forest men's tennis team is the NCAA national champion.
The top-seeded Demon Deacons took on Ohio State on their home court in Winston-Salem Tuesday. In the end, Wake Forest defeated the Buckeyes 4-2 to win the national title.
Freshman Bar Botzer earned the championship-clinching point for Wake Forest, winning 6-4, 7-5 after trailing 2-5 in the second set.
The Demon Deacons also earned the doubles point, as well as singles points from Petros Chrysochos and Skander Mansouri.
Wake Forest was the number one overall seed in this year's tournament, as they hosted the NCAA Championship for the first time in school history.
The Demon Deacons ended their season on a 16-match winning streak.
