Greensboro police said a man was hit by a vehicle driving down US-29S. Police said a second car hit him and left the scene.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A man was hit and killed on US-29 south in Greensboro Tuesday night, according to police.

The Greensboro Police Department said they received a call about a crash that involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. Police said 57-year-old Tommy Neal Jr., of Gibsonville, was crossing over US-29 south when he was struck by a Dodge Journey, knocking him down in the roadway.

Neal did not survive, according to police.

Investigators said the driver remained on scene but while Neal was on the ground, a second car struck him and left the scene.

US-29 southbound from Cone Boulevard to 16th Street was closed for a few hours.
