Motorcyclist dies after crashing into dump truck in Rockingham County

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said a man driving a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle has died after a crash involving a dump truck in Rockingham County.

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — A man driving a motorcycle has died after a crash involving a dump truck in Rockingham County Saturday, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded to a crash on East Morehead Street near US-158 around 5:13 p.m. 

Investigators said 51-year-old Richard Angelo Enoch, of Burlington, was driving a 2020 Ram 5500 dump truck south on East Morehead Street. Daniel Vazquez, 44, of Kelling, Va., was driving a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle north on East Morehead Street. Vazquez traveled left of center in a curve and struck the side of Enoch.

Troopers said Enoch and a front-seat passenger in his vehicle were uninjured in the crash.

Vazquez suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, where he later died.

According to troopers, East Morehead Street near US-158 was closed for approximately three hours during the investigation. 

Troopers cleared the scene at 8:28 p.m.
