Woman and dog killed on US-52 roadway, Winston-Salem police said

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A woman and her dog are dead after being hit on the US-52 southbound roadway on Sunday, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.

Police said Patricia Luffman Casper ran into the southbound lanes of US-52 after her dog.

Casper and her dog were struck by an unknown vehicle traveling south, according to officers.

The crash happened north of University Parkway (Exit 115), police said.

The southbound lanes of US-52 from Hanes Mill Road to University Parkway will remain closed as the investigation continues, police said.
