GREENSBORO, N.C. — We've been soaked for months, even years here in the Piedmont. Now, the Triad gets a few days to relax and dry out. Here's what we're tracking.

Dry weather is here right now, and is looking to stick around. So far this week we've had 4 dry days in a row; Tuesday - Friday. The WFMY Weather Team now expects an additional 6 to 7 dry days to follow.

If that comes true, we'll notch a 10-11 day stretch of dry weather. That hasn't happened since September 30 - October 9 of 2020 more than five months ago.

Dry weather has been hard to come by in recent months.

It's been an exceptionally wet three years. Since the beginning of 2018, the Triad has recorded over 189 inches of rainfall. For some perspective, that's more than 150% of what Seattle has seen in that time.

The wet weather isn't just annoying, it has taken its toll. We've seen significant flooding on several occasions during our frequent heavy rain events. The muddy and wet conditions also make difficult conditions for farmers and outdoor workers to do their job and be productive.

WEATHER SETUP:

More dry weather will continue heading into the weekend, but it will be a bit on the cool and breezy side.

A large area of high pressure will be building in from the north. This will keep us on the breezy and cool eastern side for Saturday and Sunday. Both days will have cold mornings in the upper 20s to near 30. Both afternoons will be breezy and cool with highs in the low 50s.

All the while, it will stay dry and sunny. As of Friday, we've completed 4 dry days in a row, and all signs point to that streak continuing through the end of next week.

This dry streak is made possible by that strong high pressure anchoring itself in the Southeast for several days. It will drift slightly offshore by Monday, which will start a warmup. We'll warm into the mid and upper 60s by Wednesday, likely reaching 70 by Thursday or Friday.
