GREENSBORO, N.C. (WFMY) -- Hurricane Florence is hitting the North Carolina coast hard. The tropical storm-force winds and surge are pounding homes along the coast.
It's bringing devastation already and much more is still to come.
The city of New Bern experienced heavy flooding Thursday, with waist-deep and should-deep waters. People waded in the water in a hotel parking lot while trying to get back to their hotel rooms. The bridge into town is blocked off because the water is too deep to drive through.
Aerial views captured strong waves hitting Surf City, NC as Hurricane Florence as a category two storm at the time started to make its way towards the coast.
Thursday night was a long one along the coast as Hurricane force winds moved through coastal communities. Here you can see the force of the wind in a parking lot in Wilmington.
