Mainly rain Tuesday; Rain/snow mix less likely

Best chance for rain/snow to the North

GREENSBORO, N.C. — As a low-pressure system tracks our way by Tuesday morning, it's bringing our next shot at light rain Tuesday but also a chance we could see a period of some rain/snow/sleet mix during the morning hours.

It's not a guarantee, and our chances are diminishing, but it's still possible.

As of Monday morning, the low appears to be tracking a little further to the North which would put us on the warmer side of the low, which wouldn't bring in as much cold air needed for frozen precipitation.

TIMING:

After about 11:00 AM, temperatures will be too warm and any rain will be scattered in nature and fall as just chilly rain.

There's a better chance to see a mix of rain/snow/sleet north of Greensboro and along the NC/VA border. In these areas, if a burst of snow were to happen, as much as a dusting on grassy areas is possible. That may or may not happen. In areas to our south, there will be less where temperatures will be warmer, and stay above freezing. Any winter precipitation will be just a cold rain by noon.

The WFMY Weather Team will continue to keep a close eye on this system. Join the Good Morning Show Tuesday and we will track the system together.
