Men Threatened People at Burlington Gym with Assault Rifle: Police

Three men are facing a charge of Going Armed to the Terror of the Public after brandishing assault rifle at gym in Burlington, police say.

Three men are facing charges after being accused of brandishing an assault rifle at a gym in Burlington, police say.

Officers were dispatched to the Broad Street Gym after a 911 call about a disturbance inside the facility. Police were told the men left and came back in with a firearm and waved the weapon in front of other patrons of the gym and then left. 

Responding officers stopped the car immediately and detain the three men inside. Police say they also confiscated an assault rifle (SKS) during the investitgation. 

There were no shots fired nor were there any injuries as a result of this incident, officers report.

They were arrested and charged with Going Armed to the Terror of the Public.

The three facing charges are: Jaquin Mondrel Smith, 23, of Ramseur, Odis Taquon Covington, 25, of Asheboro and Myquail Myquis Watts, 24, of Ramseur.

They each received a $1,000 secured bond on the charge.
