GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Cottage Grove neighborhood is where you will find the Mustard Seed Community Health Clinic and Food Pantry.
The center offers free primary health care service for anyone in Greensboro no matter if you are insured or not insured. A lot of our health involves what we eat so a major focus of the center is providing healthy, low-sodium items.
While they serve thousands of patients they are in need--specifically of lower sodium canned goods.
The center posted on their Facebook they are in dire need of canned goods for their pantry.
"We need things like fresh fruits and vegetables. We need more lower-sodium canned foods and things like brown rice and pasta. We will even take things like milk and meat," Christine Ringuette, Executive Director of the Mustard Seed Community Health Clinic said.
Ringuette said the recent donations certainly helped but this was only a momentary fix. If you feel empowered to donate to the center, you can drop off your items in person at the Mustard Seed Community Health Center.
In North Carolina, there are areas known as food deserts. That is an area with limited access to affordable and nutritious food.
Some right here in the Triad. That is why the Mustard Seed Community Health Center is hoping to provide relief to those in need in the community.
"We don't believe in one box fits all because we come from different backgrounds and cultures. We want to make sure whatever people take that is something they will use and so we allow people to pick and choose whatever they want and take it home," said Dulce Ortiz, the Lead Community Health Worker at the center.
Ortiz said the center also takes and distributes items to families every Monday. You can bring your items for donation to the Mustard Seed Community Health Center Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
