GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greensboro Police Department (GPD) said they're seeking dashcam video in connection to a single-vehicle crash that turned into a murder investigation.

A driver died after crashing on Interstate 840 on April 25.

GPD said 21-year-old William Christopher Murphy was taken to a hospital after the crash and died three days later on April 28.

After an investigation, police determined Murphy died from a shooting.

Greensboro police officers ask anyone with still images or dash camera video of two vehicles speeding from the Graham/Burlington area toward Greensboro on I-40 westbound between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on April 25 not to hesitate to contact police.

GPD described one vehicle as an older model black Pontiac Grand Prix and the other as a red/burgundy newer model sedan, possibly a Honda with dark-tinted windows.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. that day, the black Pontiac Grand Prix was involved in a single-vehicle crash on I-840, resulting in serious injuries that led to the death of Murphy. The red/burgundy newer model sedan fled the area.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.
