ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — A high-speed chase that spanned across Rockingham County ended in the arrest of four individuals after they fled a stolen vehicle on foot into a wooded area in Reidsville around 11:15 a.m. on Friday, April 26.

A Rockingham County Sheriff's Office deputy attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on a speeding White Dodge Charger on US 220 Bypass.

The vehicle did not stop and fled, starting the pursuit.

The sheriff's office said the deputy briefly lost sight of the vehicle, stopping the pursuit. But the car was later located traveling eastbound on NC 704, where the pursuit resumed.

The chase continued until the vehicle reached Lawsonville Avenue in Reidsville, near Bass Road, where the occupants abandoned the car and ran into the nearby woods, according to deputies.

All four suspects were apprehended after a search of the area. The White Dodge Charger was found to have been stolen from the Raleigh area, and the tags had been stolen from a similar Dodge Charger.

All of the suspects are being held at the Rockingham County Detention Facility.

The suspects and their charges are as follows:

  • Darion Tyric Valentine, 21, the driver, was placed under a $30,000 secured bond.

  • Amari Kanye Pounds, 20, was placed under a $7,500 secured bond.

  • Enrique Jorge Matos, 22, was placed under a $5,000 secured bond.

  • Ombae Koryche Johnson, Jr., 24, was placed under a $5,000 secured bond.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
