Woman tackled by customers after attempting to rob Burlington bank with a rifle: Police

According to the Burlington Police Department, the incident happened at the Truliant Credit Union located on Kirkwood Drive.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — A woman now identified as Alicia Lynn Rickman attempted to rob a bank in Burlington Saturday with a rifle.  

According to the Burlington Police Department, the incident happened at the Truliant Credit Union located on Kirkwood Drive.

Police say Rickman entered the bank with a long rifle and shot it once into the ceiling before customers at the credit union tackled and contained her until police arrived. 

According to police, no one was injured in the incident. The rifle used in the attempted robbery was seized by officers and Rickman has now been charged with Attempted Armed Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon and 1st-degree Kidnapping. 

She is being held under a $250,000 bond at the Alamance County Jail.
