Triad family mourns 2-month-old killed in car crash

According to the Guilford County Sheriff's Office, Alton Bright Jr. is facing charges in connection to the death of 2-month-old Taiwan Outlaw.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Dozens of balloons were released in honor of Greensboro baby, Taiwan Outlaw. 

Friends and family gathered at the scene of the car crash that led to the death of 2-month-old Outlaw, saying their final goodbyes, while also seeking justice.

A life that just started, "I just been lost ever since that day," Shenika Sligh, mother of 2-month-old Outlaw said. 

Already taken away, "I just… I can't believe he's gone," Sligh said. 

Sligh, a young woman herself, now grieving the loss of her youngest child who was injured in a Greensboro car crash and died days later.

"He really was a good baby… I'm just gonna miss everything." Sligh said.

According to the Guilford County Sheriff's Office, the person driving the car that day was Alton Bright Jr. Deputies attempted to pull Bright over on April 16. Bright then sped up in attempt to flee the deputy.

About a mile later, Bright crashed the car in front of Vandaila Christian School, where he then ran away, leaving behind the badly-injured 2-month-old and three other passengers including Sligh. 

It's something Sligh's grandfather is having a hard time dealing with, "As you can see, he was a happy baby but… all that's gone," William Pittman, great-grandfather of 2-month-old Outlaw. 

He said he had only ever seen his great-grandson through photos and videos, "I never got a chance to meet him, no I did not," Pittman said. 

Although he said he got the chance to see Outlaw in the hospital, he wishes he would have spent more time with him.

"When I got my mind made up to go see him, it was too late… it was too late," Pittman said. 

Moving forward, loved ones of the 2-month-old are seeking a sense of closure, "I want justice," Sligh said. 

Although they know it won't bring him back.

"It's still not gonna bring my grandson back. No it don't, it don't bring my grandson back," Pittman said. 

They want to see the driver of the car put behind bars for a long time

Bright Jr. is facing a second degree murder charge for death of 2-month-old Taiwan Outlaw. GCSO said he is in jail without bond.
