GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A man is facing DWI charges after driving the wrong way and crashing head-on into a deputy, according to state troopers.

Just before 8 p.m. Monday, state troopers responded to a crash on I-73 near NC-68 in Guilford County.

David Brown, 79, was driving north in the southbound lanes of I-73, in a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado truck pulling a utility truck trailer.

Samuel Hunt Lackford, 28, was going south on I-73 in a marked 2023 Dodge Charger Guilford County patrol car.

Brown hit Lackford head-on. Both drivers suffered minor injuries.
