GREENSBORO (WFMY) - If you're a police officer, firefighter or paramedic who likes their hamburgers, you might have a new favorite restaurant in Greensboro.

BurgerIM, a fast-casual gourmet burger franchise, is opening a location on Battleground Ave this week. The restaurant gives on-duty first responders 50 percent off every order whenever they're open. The Greensboro location is the first BurgerIM in North Carolina.

"We are proud to offer a 50% off discount on all meals for on-duty firemen, paramedics, and police officers," BurgerIM's website reads. "It’s the least we can do in order to say thank you for your outstanding service in our community."

BurgerIM will celebrate its grand opening at its new location at 2505 Battleground Ave. Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan and restaurant owner Marc Ashley will be there, along with police, firefighters, EMTs and other first responders.

BurgerIM does ask for ID to verify a guest's first-responder status.
