Woman Killed In High Point Shooting: Police

Officers learned the woman had died at the hospital around 4 a.m.

HIGH POINT, NC (WFMY) - Police are investigating after a shooting in High Point.

Police found a woman in the street suffering from a gunshot wound to the head when they arrived to Franklin Ave. around 3:30 a.m. She later died at the hospital. There's no indication that the Franklin Ave. shooting and Monday's deadly shooting of pregnant teen Anastasia Ray are related at this time.

At this point, investigators haven't determined a motive or suspect information. The victim's identity hasn't yet been released.

While investigating the deadly shooting, they heard around 30 to 40 shots in succession nearby around 5 a.m. They later found a 15-year-old girl at a home on the 700 block of Fairview St. had been shot in the foot.

The teen girl was taken to the hospital for her injury, which wasn't considered life-threatening. No one else inside the home was injured.

The woman is the 13th person killed in High Point this year according to police.
