CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges was denied access to Canada ahead of Monday night's game against the Toronto Raptors, WCNC Charlotte's Nick Carboni confirmed.
The incident was first reported by WFNZ's Kyle Bailey. Bridges' denial appears to be related to his arrest for domestic violence. Any person with a felony conviction on their criminal record may be deemed "criminally inadmissible to Canada," according to the country's government.
The Hornets are currently working on getting Bridges cleared for Monday's game against the Raptors. Bridges made his NBA return in November, playing his first game in over 580 days.
He missed all of the 2022-23 season and the first 10 games of this season for his June 2022 arrest for felony domestic violence. He was arrested again in Lincoln County for violating a protection order and child abuse. He was released on a $1,000 bond at the time.
Bridges received a warm welcome from the Spectrum Center crowd when we was subbed in about five minutes into tonight's game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
"I was happy for the response I got from everybody," Bridges said. "I've got to gain people's trust back, but I'm just here to play basketball and help this team get wins."
The Hornets are 7-17 overall, three games behind the Atlanta Hawks for playoff contention. The team has lost four consecutive games, including a 53-point blowout at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers on Dec. 16.
