Vault Visit: Humane Society puppy sale

On March 26, 1971, Humane Society members sat with the puppies and signs in the Friendly Shopping Center.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — To celebrate WFMY News 2 turning 75, we are opening the News 2 Vault.

On March 26, 1971, WFMY found the Guilford County Humane Society helping people find their next four-legged family member.

Humane Society members sat with the puppies and signs in the Friendly Shopping Center rose garden. They said the sale was to help with overpopulation in the County.

"We're hoping to alert the people to the fact that we do have a lot of dogs in our county that are unwanted," one of the members said.

People who bought puppies could also take them to a local kennel to be bathed and groomed for free.
