Man charged in deadly bar shooting in Eden turns himself in, police say

Eden police said 22-year-old Aaron Marriott turned himself in after a deadly shooting at The Rabbit Hole bar on Oct. 1.

EDEN, N.C. — Eden police said a suspect charged in a deadly bar shooting that happened on Oct. 1. has turned himself in Thursday.

Aaron Noel Johnson Marriott, 22, has been charged with first-degree murder and is still at large, police said.

Eden police said they responded to The Rabbit Hole about a shooting around 1:00 a.m. on Oct. 1  where they found Al Jamar Lindsey, 39, with multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot.

Despite life-saving measures, Lindsey died at the scene.

After the initial investigation, police discovered two women who were fighting when Lindsey was shot. They say Lindsey, who was not involved in the fight, was approached by a person who fired shots at him at close range.

The person left The Rabbit Hole after the shooting and has not been found.

The Rabbit Hole is in Eden City Councilmen Gerald Ellis’ ward.

Ellis said he was shocked to hear about the shooting death and his thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Marriott is being held under no bond and is scheduled to appear in Rockingham County District Court on Oct. 17.

The investigation is ongoing.
