Police said the victim, Jamar Dewan Wiley, died from his injuries Tuesday night.

The investigation began Tuesday morning on North Liberty Street. Police got a call about a man suffering from a stab wound. When officers arrived, they found Wiley and sent him to a local hospital for critical injuries.

Investigators said Wiley got into an argument with two other men when one of the men stabbed him before leaving the area in a Chevrolet Tahoe.

Winston-Salem police said less than 20 minutes later, they got a report about another stabbing victim on North Patterson Avenue. That person went to a hospital for treatment. Investigators said the second victim was walking in the area when someone ran up to him and attacked him before taking off in a Chevrolet Tahoe.

Detectives used video evidence to determine the stabbings were connected and arrested the suspects, Jeffrey Hugo Silva and Oscar Daniel Noyola-Lopez, during a traffic stop.

Police said the stabbing wasn't random.

Noyola-Lopez was initially charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon. His charge was upgraded to felony murder following the death of Wiley.

Silva was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon and felony accessory after the fact.

Both suspects are behind bars without bond.
