Here are three top crime stories you might have missed.

1. Rockingham County Murder Arrests
Two men have been charged with murder in the death of a missing Rockingham County man.

Christopher Largen of Stoneville and Joseph White from Eden are both charged with First Degree Murder in the death of Teddy Ray Compton.

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office discovered Compton’s body on Tuesday in a field on Godfrey Farm Road in Stoneville.

Compton was reported missing on Friday, September 8 then a Silver Alert was issued for him along with a search over the weekend.

Largen and White are in the Rockingham County Jail under no bond.

2. Winston-Salem Murder Charge
A Winston-Salem man has been charged in the murder of two people.

In July officers discovered the body a 40-year-old woman after a welfare check at an apartment on Stagecoach Road. Officers said they discovered Devette Campbell’s body in a wooded area. They also discovered the body of Gary Michael Craig, Jr.

In August police arrested Tyrone Donte Gladden for two counts of Concealment of Death. Gladden has since been charged with two counts of murder.

He’s being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center under no bond.

3. Elderly Man Won’t Be Charged
Winston-Salem Police said an elderly man who shot an intruder will not face charges.

The shooting happened inside an apartment on Old Vineyard Road last weekend. Police said 79-year-old, James Thomas Noah and 77-year-old, Barbara Ella Melton was inside their home when someone knocked on their door. Melton opened the door and that’s when two men forced their way into the apartment. Police said the intruders began attacking Noah. That’s when he shot the intruder in the head. The other man ran away.

Police said the suspected intruder who was shot, 26-year-old, Lourenco Reed, is in Baptist Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
