Silver Airways confirms it's no longer at PTI Airport. Here's how customers can request refunds

It comes after flights were canceled for the remainder of the year.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — We've heard from several in the Triad about issues concerning Silver Airway flights being canceled from The Piedmont Triad International Airport.

"None of us got our money back from the flights whatsoever, and there were 7 of us," said Violette Tabor, who had her flight canceled with Silver Airway.

Now we are gaining some clarity.

Silver Airways was terminated from PTI as of Wednesday. The company shared a statement with WFMY News 2 about its withdrawal from the airport.

"We are writing to you today to express our sincerest apologies for the disruption caused by our recent decision to withdraw from Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) and Nashville International Airport (BNA) as of Wednesday, November 1st.

We are providing refunds for customers who were booked on any flight to/from GSO and BNA after Wednesday, November 1st. To request a refund, please contact our call center at +1 (801) 401-9100. Our team will be available to assist you between 8 AM and 7 PM EST.

Thank you for your understanding, and please do not hesitate to reach out to our call center if you have any questions or concerns. We are here to assist you in any way we can," a Silver Airways spokesperson wrote.

Around Wednesday afternoon, Silver Airways was no longer found on PTI's website

Silver Airways' website also no longer listed Greensboro as an option for booking a flight.

The airline launched its first arrival and departure flight from PTI back in July.

The low-fare, non-stop flights went to Orlando, Florida, and Nashville, Tennessee. There were also talks of expanding it to Pensacola and Tampa, Florida.

The recent cancellations sparked frustration among flyers who said the inconsistency over the past few months is frustrating.

Violette Tabor said she paid $150 for a round trip to Nashville with Silver Airways.

She said after four delays, the flight was canceled, and then she and her six friends had to rent a car to get to their destination.

Tabor said if she knew it wasn't reliable, she wouldn't have booked it.

"I personally never got my money back for checking my bag that day, and none of us got a refund for our flight whatsoever," Tabor said. "Silver Airways said they would refund us, I have several email threads with them, and they will not respond to me about giving me a refund."

Tabor said there were lists of frustrated people posting on Facebook after she learned this wasn't the first time it happened.

She said the explanation behind the delays and cancelations was old planes needing repairs.

"It was a good thing that we weren't going somewhere where we had to be there at a certain time because it really could have messed us up, or someone was sick or anything like that," she said. "I hope they either fix the issue and get new planes or honestly just shut down."

After talking to a travel expert, her suggestion was to get flight insurance and a travel agent, because they can help guide you through any headaches.

The Attorney General's Office has not received any complaints about Silver Airways. However, they encourage consumers who have had issues to file a complaint or learn more about travel scam tips at www.ncdoj.gov/travel.
