Celebrating Black history at the International Civil Rights Center and Museum

CEO of the museum John Swaine talks about current exhibits "I Am A Man" and "The 1887 Lynching of Eugene Hairston".

GREENSBORO, N.C. — You don't have to go far to find history because it is right here in downtown Greensboro. This month we're highlighting over 400 years of Black History and heritage.

According to the Library of Congress, National African American History Month was birthed after African American author and historian Dr. Carter G. Woodson founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History in 1915.

WFMY News 2 caught up with the International Civil Rights Center and Museum CEO John Swaine about exhibits on display at the museum spotlighting Black History.

This year's featured exhibits include "I Am A Man" which features the story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and "The 1887 Lynching of Eugene Hairston", a Greensboro man who was hung after being accused of assault and intent to rape a white woman.

You can plan your visit to the museum by clicking HERE for ticket information.
