EDEN, N.C. — After nearly two years of not knowing, we finally have an answer about the Eden Lidl store.

Sadly, a new Lidl store is not going to open in Eden after all.

In January, it was revealed construction had stopped on the promised Lidl store in Eden. That’s after Lidl started working on the location in 2017.

So why is Lidl not going to open the store? We got an answer from the company.

William Harwood with Lidl said the company focuses on sites that can be most convenient for the most customers possible. After they evaluated the Eden site, the company decided not to move forward with the store.

As for the site moving forward, they have no plans for the building at the moment. They own it and will evaluate what to do with it in the future.
