Greensboro man arrested in crime spree, including two bank robberies and Family Dollar fire

Police say 27-year-old Jimmie Lee Benjamin Haney is facing charges in connection to three recent crimes, including bank robberies and a Family Dollar fire.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A 27-year-old man is facing charges in connection to two bank robberies and a fire at a Greensboro business.

Jimmie Lee Benjamin Haney is facing charges for two counts of robbery with firearms or other dangerous weapons, obtaining property by false pretenses, and fugitive from justice. His bond has been set at $100,000.

Greensboro police identified Haney as the suspect and arrested him at a home on Lees Chapel Road Friday night. 

Officers said Haney is believed to be connected to the following crimes:

It all started when Haney had a warrant for his arrest.

Multiple officers were on the scene at Lees Chapel Road at 5:40 p.m. and immediately began attempting negotiations. 

Haney surrendered after Greensboro police used a concussion grenade before he came out of the home peacefully around 9:40 p.m.

Lee’s Chapel Road between Yanceyville Road and White Chapel Way was temporarily closed in both directions.
